Over the past few weeks, we have revisited our business and personal goals. We have reset our wellness plan. This brings me to our next step and that is organizing our time. Are you managing your time or is your time managing you?
If you are like most people today your schedule is filled to the brim. We are stretched thin on every side. In order to be effective in most things there needs to be balance. Without maintaining control of YOUR schedule, it becomes very hard to stay on track with your business, personal goals and your wellness plan.
How did your Schedule get so Full
That seems to be the starting point. If we are the ones that are in control of our schedule then we have the power to say yes and NO to the things that are being added to our schedule. The word seems to pride itself on staying busy and being burnt out and tired all the time. That is not the most effective way to run your life and it has the opposite effect. It leads to being less effective and productive. Are You Managing Your Time
Ways to Better Manage Your Time
The first step to better managing your time, is to simply review your schedule. See what is necessary and then prioritize. As working women and mothers we tend to take on too much as it is. If you then add a business to your many roles, then that becomes very difficult to manage.
Set realistic expectations for yourself. Realizing that some things may get done but not exactly the way you may want it to. Being flexible is a great trait for being busy. It creates a space for you to adjust your schedule without the unnecessary guilt.
Enlist Tools to Assist in Managing your Time
Help is a good thing and there are many ways that we are able to simplify certain tasks. You may want to do less running by order as much as you can online. This is a great time saver and allows you to focus on other things. Having a cleaning service come in once or twice a month can also free you up. Planning out your meals for the next week and prepping in advance is also a great time saver. A weekly/monthly planner is also a great tool for managing your schedule. You are able to fill it in and have a visual to know exactly where you are spending most of your time. This also allows you to plan better.
Staying on Track
Once you have organized your schedule. Remember the value of knowing when your cup is full and where it is overflowing the most. Trim off as much as you can where you can. Delegate help when needed and remember to use whatever tools you can to help you stay on track. Remember that no is not a bad word and use it when necessary. Just because you can do something does not mean you should. Many times things are added to our schedule out of our devotion to help others. It is your job to help yourself first and that is by prioritizing your time.
The Benefits of Time Management
The benefits of managing your time is that you are able to reach and maintain the many goals you have set for yourself and your business. You are able to keep up with the wellness journey you have committed to and the health benefits that come with that. You are not tired, cranky and burnt out and you enjoy a more quality life. Those are some great benefits to managing your time. Until next week my readers continue to ……live your dreams out loud
